Ceramic Tiles

Ceramic Tiles

Ceramic tiles are generally made from red or white clay fired in a kiln which is then glazed to produce a strong, easy to maintain floor or wall covering.

When compared with porcelain tiles, ceramic tiles are a little softer and more prone to wear, however a good quality ceramic will last a lifetime if laid correctly.

ceramics tend to be less frost resistant than other types of tile and so often are not suitable for external use. Ceramics are available in most finishes including matt, satin and high gloss and do not require sealing.

Ceramics can be cut using a manual tile cutter by scribing once and snapping along the scribe. Odd shapes can be cut with a water cooled cutter, tile saw or tile nippers. Drilling and hole cutting products are available.
