Keep in mind that high polished floor tiles can be slippery when wet and are best avoided. Instead, tiles with a slight texture or a matt finish are excellent for your lavatory or bathroom.

It’s not uncommon for bathrooms to have wooden floors, which many people believe to be impossible to lay tile over. Believe it or not, it’s actually fairly easy with a little direction. For more information about laying tiles over wood flooring, see our blog post on tiling wooden floors.

Travertine Tiles

Travertine is formed in hot springs after water travels through limestone. Its texture and warmth is unrivalled by its peers. Fossil rich and in warm earthy colours, travertine can add a softer feel to your installation. Travertine often has voids in the tile, good quality travertine has less of these voids and they are properly filled before being sold, recent popularity has resulted in lots of cheap travertine in the market, marketed as 'honed and filled' this is often mostly filler. All of our travertine is high quality travertine that will not disappoint. Travertine should always be laid using a white adhesive and sealed before and after grouting.
